Calling all yogis and yoginis! A fabulous book, My Daddy Is a Pretzel: Yoga
for
Parents and Kids (Barefoot Books, 2004), is a great introduction to the
ancient art of yoga. Well-known yoga teacher Baron Baptiste demonstrates to kids
(and
parents) a handful of basic yoga poses including tree, dog, and pretzel. “Niki
says her mommy’s a gardener,” reads one page. “Sometimes my
daddy’s a tree,” says the narrator. When you turn the page, Mr. Baptiste
shows you how to move in and out of the tree pose (Vrkshasana) through Sophie
Fatus’ vibrant, step-by-step watercolor illustrations. |
