Prolific picture book writer Uma Krishnaswami’s latest, Remembering
Grandpa (Boyds Mills Press, 2007) is a beautiful story of remembrance.
When little rabbit Dashya’s grandmother comes “down with
a bad case of sadness” on the anniversary of her grandfather’s
death, Dashya collects buttons, flowers, and other artifacts to remind
her of him. Krishnaswami’s lyrical prose is matched perfectly
by Layne Johnson’s delicate oil paintings. This quiet book will
resonate with children who have lost a loved one.
